  1. Not sure how this works so don't beat me up for the question. How is Bishop Shanahan AA? Their girls team is AAA. Both teams have similar numbers of runners given their respective enrollment. Can and was this move from AAA to AA made to make them look better "on paper", as they were perpetually at the bottom of Chesmonts? And if so, can other struggling XC teams do the same? What are the rules? And props to the girls team for not taking the easy route.

  2. It's all based on enrollment numbers for your school, guys vs. girls. It's not really a choice to compete at a certain level, you just go wherever you are assigned based on the cut offs.

There's only been one case I've ever heard where a school ran up in AAA rather than AA (where they were assigned) and that was Correy Area when they had Austin Pondel. They are back to running AA now.

    1. And not that it needs to be said, but clearly they aren't at the bottom chesmont these days and I sincerely doubt they are at all concerned about looking better "on paper".

They made states in AAA outdoors in the 4x8 last year running 7:53ish so I doubt they are looking for any handouts from anybody.

  3. I don't know the specific reason they moved down either, but I do recall it was around the time they got a new coach. I also recall some mild, general grumbling since their numbers are on a par with some of their AAA Chesmont rivals. They are AAA in most other sports.
